CIA agent reveals the five most dangerous countries in the world: Don't go there under any circumstances VIDEO
Former CIA agent John Kiriakou has revealed which countries he currently considers the most dangerous in the world, recalling trips that ended in tragedy.
The State Department is already warning U.S. citizens to avoid “Level 4” countries and not to travel to Iran, Ukraine, Sudan, Syria, and Russia due to war, unrest, terrorism, and risks of kidnapping or unjust detention.
Kiriakou told LADbible Stories that he visited 72 countries while working for the CIA and that “almost all of them were terrible,” noting that he never “got the chance to go to nice places.” He listed Yemen, Somalia, Gaza, Afghanistan, and parts of Pakistan as the most dangerous, emphasizing that anyone in these areas must remain constantly vigilant.
As an example, Kiriakou described his travels to Yemen—five in total—stating that each visit was “worse than the previous one.” The country is currently under a Level 4 advisory due to unrest, crime, health risks, kidnappings, terrorism, and “other” dangers.
Catastrophic consequences for diplomats and civilians
During his last visit to Yemen, CIA operatives were only allowed to stay in a single hotel surrounded by a nine-meter bomb-resistant wall. The day after his arrival, a group of South Korean diplomats was ambushed on the road from the airport to the hotel—all six diplomats were killed in the attack.
A few days later, South Korean intelligence officers arrived in Yemen to investigate the killings, but they were also ambushed and killed.
“The South Koreans just closed their embassy and went home. It’s a pretty dangerous country,” Kiriakou noted.
His testimony further highlights how instability in certain regions can have catastrophic consequences for both diplomats and civilian travelers.
Speaking on global security and international relations, Kiriakou warned that the situation today is extremely unstable. He concluded that international relations are currently tense and it is difficult to predict how events will unfold.
