A massive fire rages; Around 150 firefighters on site, but at a safe distance – high risk PHOTO/VIDEO
A large fire broke out today in a warehouse in London, being fought by around 150 firefighters, and emergency services have declared a ‘major incident’ as the fire has also reached fireworks.
The London Fire Brigade stated that 25 fire engines are on the scene. According to reports, the cause of the fire is not yet known, Sky News reports.
The fire service said in a statement that the fire broke out in a two-story building consisting of a warehouse and retail space.
The brigade reported that about three-quarters of the building in London is on fire, and firefighters are combating the blaze from heights using ladders. Brigade Commander Pet Gaulborn said that a ‘major incident’ has been declared on the scene.
“This decision was made due to the suspected presence of fireworks and cylinders stored inside the building. All firefighters have withdrawn to a safe distance and are now combating the fire from further away to ensure crew safety“, Gaulborn said.
The fire service stated that residents in the area have been advised to keep their doors and windows closed due to the large amount of smoke produced by the incident.
