Moscow: Zelensky, we are ready
Russia is ready to hold negotiations with the Ukrainian side in Istanbul at any time, but Kyiv has not responded to previous initiatives, said Russia’s chargé d’affaires in Turkey, Aleksey Ivanov.
“The Russian side has repeatedly emphasized that we are ready to continue direct negotiations with the Ukrainian side, with the Ukrainian delegation. Our Turkish partners have also consistently stressed that the Istanbul platform remains available to us—these doors remain open,” Ivanov said, according to TASS.
He added that Kyiv needs to “show political will,” while Moscow “is ready for such negotiations at any moment.”
Ivanov noted that the Russian side had put forward a series of proposals during previous rounds of negotiations.
“A whole range of initiatives was presented, including the establishment of three online working groups. Unfortunately, we have not yet received a positive response to these initiatives from the Ukrainian side,” the Russian diplomat added.
There have been no direct talks between Russia and Ukraine since their third meeting in Istanbul on July 23.
Previous rounds of negotiations, involving the two delegations on May 16 and June 2, led to a prisoner exchange.
