The severe storm that has swept across parts of Europe has caused flight cancellations and knocked down trees, but so far, there have been no reports of major damage.

In several European countries, firefighting services have been deployed to deal with the aftermath of the storm.

In the Belgian capital, Brussels, around 90 fire department interventions were reported — mostly due to fallen trees and broken branches, the Belgian news agency Belga reported today. It added that many similar operations took place in other parts of the country, with reports of material damage as well.

In Scotland and Norway, some households remain without electricity, despite earlier expectations that power outages would be resolved by now.

 

In the Netherlands, around 150 flights were canceled yesterday.

According to Norwegian broadcaster NRK, tens of thousands of households in the southern and central parts of Norway were still without electricity this morning, as the storm disrupted both air and rail traffic.

In the Netherlands, the storm warning issued yesterday has now been lifted. No major damage was reported, but transportation disruptions occurred due to fallen trees.

At Schiphol Airport in Amsterdam, where about 150 incoming and outgoing flights were canceled yesterday, operations have mostly returned to normal. However, as a precaution, another 10 flights were canceled today.

A KLM spokesperson said that the situation is expected to remain stable.
