According to the British expert, Ukraine recently carried out a series of strikes on military targets in Crimea, including defense systems and radars.

This could indicate that Kyiv is preparing for a major operation on the peninsula, which might include an airborne landing or strikes on the Crimean Bridge with the aim of collapsing it.

As Clarke emphasizes, such an operation could positively affect the collective West’s perception of Ukraine’s prospects for further support.

“Ukrainians like to create surprises, because that affects not only the Russians on the front lines, but also the West’s perception of how Ukraine is coping,” the expert said.

It is worth noting that some European politicians have also called for the “destruction of Crimea,” such as former British defense minister Ben Wallace, who said there is a need to “hit Crimea” to make it “uncomfortable for living.”
