The agreement to hold the meeting was reached after the three European countries warned that failure to continue negotiations would lead to the reimposition of international sanctions on Iran, The Times of Israel reports.

"The meeting between Iran, Great Britain, France and Germany will be held at the level of deputy foreign ministers," said the spokesman of the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Esmail Baghaei.

The foreign ministers of Great Britain, France and Germany on Thursday held the first telephone conversation with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi since last month's Israeli-American attack on Iran's nuclear facilities.

If the nuclear negotiations do not continue or do not produce concrete results from E3, it was announced that by the end of August, the United Nations (UN) sanctions will be returned to Iran through the so-called snapback mechanism.

"If the EU/E3 want to play a role, they should act responsibly and put aside the exhausted policies of threats and pressure, including the snapback mechanism for which they have absolutely no moral and legal basis," Araghchi said earlier.

The snapback mechanism can be used to restore UN sanctions before the UN Security Council resolution that approved the deal expires on October 18, 2025.
