"D" day for Ursula? Or not?

The session should start at noon, and it is believed that the proposal will not be voted on.

The proposal for a vote of no confidence was submitted by the right-wing Romanian MEP, Giorgio Pipere, due to, as he stated, the EC President's lack of transparency in the "Pfizergate" scandal, where Von der Leyen did not publish the exchange of text messages with the CEO of Pfizer Albert Bourla during the Covid-19 virus pandemic, when the European Union was negotiating the purchase of vaccines from the American laboratory.

A no-confidence debate was held in the EP on Tuesday, where Pipere presented the proposal citing interference in the elections in Germany and Romania as one of his reasons.

Von der Leyen called the accusations false at that session and added that all 27 member states decided to buy vaccines of their own free will, so any claim that any member state did not know about contracts, prices or quantities is, in her words, dishonest.

No-confidence votes are rare in the European Parliament and von der Leyen is expected to "survive" easily, but the motion to censure her is another sign of discontent with the former German defense minister and her supporters.
