Total chaos: Mass shooting - a large number of injured PHOTO/VIDEO
At least 11 people were wounded in a mass shooting at a Memorial Day celebration in a coastal town in South Carolina in the US, authorities said.
Horry County police said the shooting happened in Little River, near Watson Avenue, on Sunday around 9:30 p.m. local time, but did not release the condition of the injured, AP reports.
According to the police, the injured are being transferred to hospitals, and there are reports that there are more wounded.
About an hour and a half after the shooting, members of the police announced that it was an isolated incident, and that there was no danger to citizens.
Unknown motive for shooting
So far, no information has been released about whether there are any suspects, nor about the motives for the shooting.
The incident happened in a street where there are mostly residential buildings and houses, as well as a small number of companies.
Dozens of police cars and ambulances transporting the injured can be seen on videos from the scene.
A member of the local police who intervened at the scene accidentally wounded himself in the leg and was hospitalized, but is in a stable condition, according to AP.
