Behind the diplomatic scenes, the Russians launched a strategically important maneuver in the Donbass.

Namely, the Russian army has been preparing for months to cut the Pokrovsk - Konstantinovka front line in the Donetsk region.

This maneuver of Russian forces could be strategically important given the scale of the battle in Donbass.

If the Russian army continued north towards Druzhkovka, Konstantinovka would find itself surrounded, cut off from two important towns in the Donetsk region: Kramatorsk and Pokrovka.
