Reports suggest that an electric car caught fire inside one of the airport's tunnels earlier today. Two fire engines were deployed to extinguish the flames in the tunnel connecting Terminals 1, 2, and 3 by car. The vehicle was left completely destroyed.

Access to terminals 2 and 3 is partially restricted, while passengers have been told to leave extra time, with significant diversion routes in operation and use public transport where possible, the airport administration announced on the X social network.

Heathrow Airport has apologized to passengers for the traffic disruption caused by the car explosion situation. The incident happened around 3 a.m. local time when the vehicle burst into flames in the tunnel, reports the Mirror.

The vehicle is said to be completely destroyed, and there are no reports of anyone being injured. Firefighters announced that the fire was extinguished around 03:45 a.m. Several flights from Heathrow Airport in London have been delayed as a result.
