FIFA President Gianni Infantino has strongly responded to criticism directed at the organizers of the World Cup.

In an open letter published on Monday, Infantino said critics had failed to recognize what mattered most — the sense of unity, safety, and joy that, according to him, defined the championship.
"You were so focused on hatred and criticism that you missed all of this. To those who spread hatred and false rumors from behind their keyboards and through newspaper articles, I want to say that we at FIFA were on the front line, organizing the event, working hard, and delivering the greatest spectacle in the world," Infantino said.
"We had no violence, there were no incidents. Security was 100 percent, and what we witnessed was only joy and happiness," the FIFA president said.

Particular attention was drawn to FIFA's decision to suspend the automatic one-match ban following his sending-off against Bosnia and Herzegovina, while further controversy arose over refereeing decisions during the match between Argentina and Egypt.
Infantino did not comment on individual cases, but emphasized that refereeing mistakes and different disciplinary interpretations are an inherent part of football.
"Potentially incorrect decisions regarding yellow and red cards, or later decisions not to suspend players, happen in the biggest leagues in the world and are generally accepted. It is interesting that the very countries where such practices are common are now the ones criticizing FIFA the most," Infantino said.
The FIFA president particularly highlighted that the participation of national teams from countries affected by wars, political crises, or health issues showed that football can overcome divisions.
"Iran entered the United States without any problems. The national team received visas because football is a symbol of peace, not politics. Countries facing serious health or other challenges were also allowed to participate. When football gave Haiti the opportunity to be seen by the world, perhaps it is time for some people to put their keyboards aside and show more respect toward the teams that took part," Infantino concluded.
