The “Les Bleus” defeated Morocco 2-0 in Boston and will face the winner of Spain vs. Belgium in the fight for a place in the semifinals.

Mbappé scored the opening goal after missing a penalty.

According to data from the statistics company Opta, the French forward is the only footballer in the last 60 years to have directly contributed to at least 10 goals at two different World Cups.

His record at the World Cups looks impressive:

Qatar 2022 – 10 goal involvements (8 goals and 2 assists)

USA/Canada/Mexico 2026 – 11 goal involvements (8 goals and 3 assists)

 

Mbappé has also scored eight match-winning goals at World Cups, meaning goals that gave France the lead, which is the most by any player in the history of the competition.

With his outstanding performances, he has also moved closer to the legendary German striker Gerd Müller, who still holds the record for the most direct goal involvements at a single World Cup.

Müller scored 10 goals and provided three assists at the 1970 World Cup, meaning he was directly involved in a total of 13 goals.

Mbappé rounded off a series of impressive achievements with another historic record.

He became the first footballer to be directly involved in 100 goals for the French national team, recording 64 goals and 36 assists.
