Novak Djokovic experienced both highs and lows during the match, but showed his experience and class when it mattered most, securing the victory after three hours and 15 minutes. It was his 105th career win on the grass courts of Wimbledon Championships.

With that achievement, Djokovic drew level with Roger Federer, who also recorded 105 victories at Wimbledon.

The Serbian star will next face Roman Safiullin in the battle for a place in the quarter-finals. One of the biggest surprises of this year's Wimbledon, Safiullin reached the fourth round by eliminating Andrey Rublev and João Fonseca.

The match carried added significance because Novak Djokovic had never faced the Frenchman before, meaning he needed some time to fully adjust to his opponent's style of play.

In the opening set, Novak Djokovic was the first to earn a break of serve, but Arthur Rinderknech responded immediately, breaking back to level the score at 3-3.

The Serbian star, however, never lost his rhythm. He waited patiently for another opportunity and delivered the decisive blow in the 11th game, breaking his opponent's serve once again before serving out the set to take a 1-0 lead.

A similar pattern unfolded in the second set. Novak Djokovic saved a break point as early as the second game before breaking serve to take a 2-1 lead. He then remained solid on serve for the rest of the set, opening up a commanding two-set advantage.

The third set was one to forget from the seven-time Wimbledon Championships champion's perspective. The Frenchman dominated, and Djokovic managed to win his only game of the set at 0-5, avoiding what would have been the first bagel set of his career on grass.

The fourth set turned into a tightly contested battle, with neither player earning a break point before the tie-break. Djokovic then raised his level at exactly the right moment, producing his best tennis when it mattered most to seal the victory without the need for a fifth set.
