Strong earthquake hits Serbia; "Powerful tremor"

According to available data, the epicenter of the earthquake was located near Leskovac, about 6 kilometers from the city center, at geographic coordinates latitude 42.95 and longitude 21.91.

The hypocenter, according to the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), was at a depth of approximately 0 kilometers below the Earth’s surface, indicating a very shallow earthquake.

So far, there are no reports of material damage or injuries, and the relevant authorities are monitoring the situation.

The Seismological Survey of Serbia stated that the theoretical intensity at the epicenter was estimated at V–VI on the Mercalli scale, noting that earthquakes of this intensity can cause minor damage to buildings in the epicentral area.

This was a very shallow earthquake, which is why it was strongly felt across southern Serbia. Reports indicate it was also felt in Pristina.
