Deputy Commander of Rapid Response Unit arrested; Detention ordered for the commander and Unit's team leader
At the order of the Higher Public Prosecutor’s Office in Belgrade, the deputy commander of the Intervention Unit 92 of the Duty Service of the Belgrade City Police Department, M.J., who had been wanted, was arrested today, Tanjug has learned.
He is suspected of having, together with colleagues from the Intervention Unit, prevented the prosecution of Saša Vuković “Bosketa” after he allegedly opened fire on November 5 last year in the “Steak and Wine Bar” restaurant in the presence of numerous guests, following a verbal altercation with Miloš Nilović, known as “Runjo.”
Four of his colleagues were arrested yesterday, as well as the restaurant’s director, while Vuković is already in custody on suspicion that on May 12 he killed Aleksandar Nešović with gunshots from a pistol, and then hid the body with accomplices. The body was later found in a barrel buried near Jarkovac Lake.
The commander of the unit D.N. and the leader of the intervention team N.K. were, on the proposal of the Higher Public Prosecutor’s Office in Belgrade, ordered by the court, as Tanjug has learned, to be held in detention for up to 30 days.
According to reports, this decision was made to prevent them from influencing witnesses and from repeating the alleged criminal offense within a short period of time.
The remaining suspects in the case, as Tanjug has learned, will be questioned today.
