According to today’s warning from the State Hydrometeorological Institute (RHMZ), thunderstorms accompanied by hail and strong, storm-force winds are expected this afternoon, mainly in the mountainous regions of Serbia, as a local occurrence.
During the night between Wednesday and Thursday, these severe weather events are expected in Vojvodina and the Lower Podrinje region as part of an approaching line of thunderstorms coming from Hungary and Croatia, while on Thursday during the day they are expected in central and southern Serbia.
Specific locations will receive urgent warnings one to two hours in advance.
As published on the RHMZ website, a yellow and orange weather alert is currently in effect. The orange alert covers Bačka, southeastern and southwestern Serbia, as well as Kosovo and Metohija, while the rest of the country is under a yellow alert.
An orange alert means that weather conditions are dangerous, with severe phenomena that can cause material damage and pose risks to people and animals, requiring high caution and regular updates from official sources.
A yellow alert means potentially dangerous weather conditions, not unusual for the season, but still requiring caution when planning outdoor activities and monitoring forecasts to avoid unnecessary risk.
