An extremely powerful storm is approaching; Ministry of Interior issued a warning – 4 parts of Serbia at risk
After the State Hydrometeorological Institute issued a warning about severe weather expected during the day, Serbia’s Ministry of Interior has now also issued an alert and sent a warning to citizens.
The warning states that the regions covered by the red weather alert are Western Serbia, Šumadija, Pomoravlje, and Eastern Serbia.
According to Serbia’s Ministry of Interior, severe weather and strong winds are expected in those parts of the country, which could be very dangerous.
Citizens are therefore advised to protect their vehicles and follow information and instructions issued by the relevant authorities.
Urgent weather warning: SMS alerts being sent
The State Hydrometeorological Institute (RHMZ) has just issued an urgent weather warning stating that, due to severe storms, it is activating the procedure for sending emergency SMS alerts to citizens.
RHMZ has continued issuing urgent warnings throughout the day, announcing hour by hour which parts of Serbia are next to be hit by severe weather. We will be monitoring throughout the day which areas of Serbia are critically affected and exactly when.
At 10:20 a.m., RHMZ issued an urgent warning that within the next hour, strong convective developments in the Rasina District (Kruševac and surrounding areas) would bring thunderstorms, locally heavy rainfall, short-term hail, and strong winds.
After that, at 10:55 a.m., a new warning was issued stating that within the next hour, strong convective developments in the Nišava District (Aleksinac and surrounding areas) would cause thunderstorms, locally heavy rainfall, short-term hail, and strong winds.
