The current prime minister and presidential candidate of the Social Democratic Party (PSD), Marcel Ciolacu, won 19.24 percent, according to the results obtained after 99.5 percent of the votes were counted, reports Agerpres.

The media previously reported, after 80 percent of the votes were counted, that both candidates achieved an even result in the elections held on Sunday - with 22.1 percent of the votes each.

14 candidates for the post of head of state participated in the presidential elections in Romania.

Parliamentary elections will also be held in Romania on December 1.
