Vučić meets Lavrov in New York: "I emphasized Serbia's principled position, which remains committed to peace"
Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić met today with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov at the United Nations headquarters in New York.
“An open and substantive discussion with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov about energy security in the context of the broader global crisis in this sector. I expressed hope that by the end of September we will sign a new gas agreement with the Russian Federation.
We also discussed bilateral relations, strengthening economic cooperation, as well as geopolitical developments in the world and the importance and role of the United Nations in a complex global environment.
I emphasized Serbia’s principled position, which remains committed to preserving peace and stability and respecting international law as the only path toward overcoming these challenges,” Vučić wrote on Instagram.
During the day, Vučić is scheduled to hold a series of important meetings and talks on the sidelines of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly.
On Wednesday, Vučić addressed the General Debate of the UN General Assembly. During his stay in New York, he also held a series of bilateral meetings with numerous world leaders and representatives of the international community.
