Brnabić: We've accepted all requests, both local and city elections will be held on June 2

"After 17 days of talks with all parliamentary groups, we brought a decision to accept the request of the opposition grouped around 'Serbia against violence', which they handed over to me during the talks, and to call all those elections scheduled for July and August, all together with the Belgrade elections and that they all take place on June 2," said Ana Brnabić.

She noted that this merger requires changes to the Law on Local Self-Governments, Article 35.

"I expect that the proposal to amend the law on local elections will be signed by the largest number of MPs so far, that we will go together with that proposal and show that unity in difficult times for Serbia, for our people and for all our citizens," she said. '

''On Saturday, the plenum, the adoption of the law, on Sunday, let's call all local elections. In the consultation with Vučić, it was completely clear that his message was that the most important thing for the country is stability. I think this is the way to achieve that stability," she said.

"I want to thank everyone who participated, the talks were good, at difficult times. However, we showed seriousness," added the President of the Assembly of Serbia.

"Let's move on, let's finish the elections and deal with other things, including the recommendations of the ODIHR. It is certainly against the Constitution for me to stop the election activities, so this was the only possible way. It seems to me that today is a good day for politics and democracy in Serbia," concluded Ana Brnabić.
