"The prosecution has turned to the US Department of Justice to provide the necessary information"
The chief public prosecutor of the Higher Public Prosecutor's Office in Belgrade, Nenad Stefanović, addressed the public regarding the details of today's UKP action and arrests in the fight against corruption.

"The Prosecutor's Office in Belgrade opened a case and turned to the Ministry of Justice of the United States of America for the delivery of the necessary information on the suspicions that the highest state officials of the United States of America had previously raised about the accounts of USAID, the United States Agency for International Development, in connection with the misuse of funds, possible money laundering and the unintended spending of funds of US taxpayers in the Republic of Serbia," said Stefanović.
"In those statements, non-governmental organizations as well as contractors from the United States of America who received projects in Serbia were mentioned. Among those who expressed doubts about USAID's work are the President of the United States Donald Trump, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, White House spokesperson Karoline Leavitt, then the Department for the Efficiency of the United States Government headed by Elon Musk, as well as the director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation of the FBI Kash Patel," says Stefanović.
