As Tanjug learns, director of the Railway Infrastructure of Serbia Jelena Tanasković, former director of the Railway Infrastructure of Serbia Nebojša Šurlan and assistant minister for railway transport Anita Dimoski, were taken into custody.

The Higher Public Prosecutor's Office in Novi Sad announced earlier today that a total of 11 people were arrested and detained in connection with the tragedy in Novi Sad, when 15 people were killed and two were seriously injured during the fall of the canopy at the railway station in that city.

"After the collection and detailed analysis of all the necessary documentation, interviews with a large number of citizens, and after the expert examination conducted to determine the cause and circumstances under which she fell, which was submitted to the prosecution on November 20, 2024, and familiarization with the findings and opinion experts in the construction profession, by order of the Higher Public Prosecutor's Office in Novi Sad, on 21 November 2024, a total of eleven were arrested and detained persons, due to the existence of grounds for suspicion: J.T., G.V. and N.Š committed the crime of Serious Crime against General Security under Article 288 Paragraph 2 of the Criminal Code in connection with the criminal offense of Causing General Danger under Article 278 Paragraph 3 paragraph 2 of the Criminal Code. Suspects: S.N., M.J., Lj.M.M., M.S., D.J., M.G. and D.T. committed the criminal offense Serious crime against general safety from Article 288 paragraph 2 of the Criminal Code in connection with the criminal offense Irregular and improper execution of construction works from Article 281 paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code, according to the press release. For the mentioned criminal acts, a prison sentence of 2 to 12 years is prescribed'', it is added.
