"By the decision of the Appellate Court in Niš from April 8, 2025, the High Court in Negotin was designated as the actual competent authority in the proceedings of the examination of the indictment of the Higher Public Prosecutor's Office in Zaječar, brought on September 24, 2024, against the defendants for the criminal offense of aggravated murder in complicity and defendant R.D. for the criminal offense of failure to report the criminal offense and the perpetrator of the criminal offense and assisting the perpetrator after the crime was committed," it was said from the Zaječar court.

Given that the detention of the suspects for this monstrous murder ends today, by the decision of the High Court in Zaječar, it was extended for another 30 days.

"By the decision of the High Court in Zaječar from April 10, 2025, according to the two defendants, the detention was extended for another 30 days, and according to this decision, it can last until May 9, 2025," the court added.

Five facts known so far

So far, five facts related to the case of the little Danka Ilić are known:

1. There are no direct eyewitnesses to the murder

2. The cameras did not record the actual act of murder

3. The suspect changed his statement

4. There is no body of Danka Ilić

5. There is no girl's DNA among the DNA analyses

As a reminder, the Higher Public Prosecutor's Office in Zaječar accuses Janković and Dragijević that on March 26, in Banjsko Polje, near Bor, they hit Danka with an official car of the PUC "Vodovod", who had left the yard alone and went to the street. Then, according to the prosecution, they put her in the back of the car, and Dragijević strangled her with his hands. As stated in the indictment, they threw the body at the landfill on Starobanjska road, and moved it to an unknown location two days later.

After their arrest on April 4, 2024, both suspects confessed to the crime, moreover, Dragijević stated "that Janković first hit Danka with the car, and then he personally put her in the car and strangled her with his hands." The confusion arose when both of them decided to deny everything after spending several months in custody.

However, the body has not been found to date, and the Appellate Court in Nis believes that the authorities in the indictment did not provide enough quality evidence to support the allegations in the indictment.
