Indictment confirmed in the murder case of Danka Ilić

The Higher Court in Negotin has confirmed the indictment filed by the Higher Public Prosecutor’s Office in Zaječar against D.D. and S.J., on suspicion that on March 26, 2024, in Banjsko Polje near Bor, they killed two-year-old girl Danka Ilić.

The decision confirming the indictment will be sent today to the defendants and their defense attorneys, who have a three-day deadline to file appeals with the Court of Appeal in Niš, the Higher Court in Negotin told Tanjug.

According to the indictment, which was filed following a supplementary investigation, D.D. and S.J. are charged with the criminal offense of aggravated murder as co-perpetrators, while R.D. is charged with failure to report a criminal offense and assisting the perpetrator after the commission of a crime.

The supplementary investigation was conducted on the order of the Court of Appeal in Niš after it twice returned the decision confirming the indictment to the Higher Court in Zaječar, the second time instructing that the decision be made by an entirely new panel of the Higher Court in Negotin.

The prosecution has proposed in the indictment that the court sentence D.D. and S.J. to life imprisonment.

It is suspected that on March 26, 2024, in Banjsko Polje near Bor, D.D. and S.J. first struck the two-year-old girl with a vehicle belonging to the public utility company “Vodovod,” where they were employed, and then placed her in the car.

They are suspected of disposing of her body at a landfill, from where it was later moved.

The girl’s body has never been found.

R.D. is suspected of helping his son, D.D., move the girl’s body.

D.D.’s biological brother, also identified as D.D., died on April 7, 2024, at the Police Department in Bor while in custody.
