The indictment for the fall of the canopy in Novi Sad was sent back
The High Court in Novi Sad today sent back the indictment that was brought against 13 people due to the fall of the canopy at the Railway Station in that city on November 1, 2024.

The non-trial panel decided that a better clarification of the matter is needed in order to examine the merits of the indictment, it was announced from that court.
The court ordered the High Public Prosecutor's Office in that city to issue an order to supplement the investigation with orders regarding circumstances that require additional clarification within three days of receiving the copy of the decision.
At this moment, the case is being returned to the investigation phase, to supplement the investigation, in order to better clarify the matter so that the merits of the indictment can be examined, it was stated in the press release of that court.
When the canopy fell on November 1, 2024, 14 people died on the spot, and three were seriously injured, two of whom later succumbed to their injuries.
The indictment was brought by the Higher Public Prosecutor's Office in that city at the end of last year.
Of the 13 suspects, ten are in custody, two more suspects are under house arrest, and one of them is the former acting general director of "Serbian Railway Infrastructure" Jelena Tanasković.
The former Minister of Construction, Goran Vesić, is defending himself pending trial, because after a few days spent in custody, the court abolished his pretrial detention, accepting the appeal of his defense attorney.
The indictment was filed against J.T. former acting General Director of "Serbian Railway Infrastructure", G.V. former minister in the Ministry of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure, A.D. former acting assistant minister in the Ministry of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure and N.Š. of the former general director of the "Serbian Railway Infrastructure" due to the grounds of suspicion that they have committed a criminal offense - a serious offense against general security in connection with the criminal offense of causing general danger.
Also, the indictment includes S.N. responsible designer of the building structure, M.J. chief designer of the conceptual project, Lj.M.M. chief designer of the building permit project, M.S. reporter for constructions of the Republic Revision Commission, J.S.M. person responsible for technical control, Z.S.M. and D.J. persons responsible for construction works, M.G. and D.T. persons responsible for professional supervision, due to the suspicion that they have committed a criminal offense, a serious offense against general safety in connection with the criminal offense of improper execution of construction works.
