Orbán: "We will sue the EU over the Russian gas decision"

He told the Hungarian state radio that Hungary does not accept such an unlawful decision, which goes against European values.

Orbán said that Brussels chose this measure to “shut down a government that does not agree with it.”

EU countries last month agreed to gradually phase out the remaining imports of Russian gas by the end of 2027. All countries except Hungary and Slovakia supported the latest move, according to diplomats.

“We are turning to the European Court of Justice. This is no longer a sanction but a trade policy measure,” he continued, speaking about the EU decision, Blic reports.

The Hungarian prime minister added that he is also seeking “other, illegal” means to deter Brussels, but said he would not provide details at this time, AFP reports.
