Japanese Giant Relocates from Germany to Serbia: Here's What's Planned

The agreement aims to promote investment and strengthen economic cooperation between the two countries.

Masami Miyamori, a representative of Toyo Tires, announced that the company plans to open a Research and Development Center (RDC) in Serbia by 2027.

"We are planning to relocate our R&D center from the EU (Germany) to Serbia. Preparations for this move will begin soon, and the center is expected to become operational in 2027," Miyamori told Tanjug at the “Investment Conference – Expo Osaka 2025,” which was officially opened by First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Siniša Mali, along with Minister of Internal and Foreign Trade Jagoda Lazarević.

Miyamori emphasized that Toyo Tires is extremely satisfied with its operations in Serbia, citing impressive results and strong local performance. He noted that the company has been active in Serbia for two and a half years, since the launch of its first tire factory in Indjija, and praised Serbian workers for their diligence and advanced technical skills.

He also expressed appreciation for the support provided by the Serbian government, both before and after the facility in Indjija was opened.

The investment conference in Osaka was jointly organized by the Serbian Chamber of Commerce, the Osaka Chamber of Commerce, the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO), the Development Agency of Serbia, the Embassy of the Republic of Serbia in Japan, and the Japanese Business Alliance in Serbia (JBAS).

The Expo international exhibition is taking place in Osaka, Japan, from April 13 to October 13, 2025.
