BELGRADE PM Ivica Dacic has sent a letter to the UN chief, asking for Serbian citizens convicted by the Hague Tribunal to serve their time in Serbia. In the letter addressed to Ban Ki-moon, Dacic says that the Republic of Serbia is ready to secure full safety of the locations where the sentences would be served. PM wants Serbian nationals to serve jail time in Serbia "Serbia is ready to accept international monitoring of the implementation of the sentences and offer firm guarantees that those convicted will not be allowed early release without a relevant decision by the Tribunal," a statement sent to B92 quoted the letter. The prime minister further noted that Serbia and The Hague-based UN court in January 2011 signed an agreement that enables those found guilty by the court to serve their sentences in Serbia.
