The Independent Trade Union of Police said that it had not reached an agreement with representatives of the Interior Ministry on Friday. The union added, however, that its members would be in charge of security at a rally of the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) on Saturday. Police to provide security at opposition rally “The negotiations with the competent officials in MUP were unsuccessful, and the meeting with the prime minister, which was announced for today, was not scheduled at all,” representative of the union Velimir Barbulov told Tanjug. He said that the strike would continue, but added the contacts with the competent Interior Ministry officials who had rejected the union's demands at the Friday meeting would continue as well. The Interior Ministry demanded the union to end or “freeze the strike” if it wanted an appointment with the prime minister. According to Barbulov, since the administration for the issuance of personal documents, vehicle registration certificates and license plates does not work on Saturdays anyway, it will not cause problems for the citizens. Barbulov told Tanjug previously that about 70 percent of the total number of 13,000 union members had said they would join the strike. All police unions were called to wait for the return of Interior Minister Ivica Dacic from his visit to the U.S., and as of February 7, discuss and agree among themselves on common activities in presenting their requirements before the employer.
