The SPS’s decision to form a govt. with the “For a European Serbia” coalition doesn’t affect the coalition agreement to form a Belgrade local authority. Senior Socialist Party of Serbia (SPS) MP Zoran Andjelkovic said that a Belgrade local government would be formed as planned with the Democratic Party of Serbia (DSS) and the Serb Radical Party (SRS). SPS: Local agreements not threatened The local party boards were given the freedom to decide with whom they wanted to form a local government, so that, according to Andjelkovic, the earlier agreement on forming a local government in the capital still stood. Democratic Party (DS) candidate for mayor Dragan Djilas said that Belgrade government would be formed by the same majority that agreed to form a government at state level. "It is the clear position of the party’s main board that the local boards can make coalition agreements with whoever they think would be the best for their area. That does not call into question any coalition the SPS makes with the DS, the DSS or the SRS, and that was confirmed yesterday”, the SPS official told Radio B92. He said that if the agreement to form a government in Belgrade with the SRS and the DSS fell through, it would be possible for the DS and the DSS to form a government in Belgrade. Andjelkovic said that in any case, the SPS was the connecting factor in Serbia today, because they would participate with the DS at state level, and in certain municipalities with the Radicals and the DSS.
