The crimes committed by the Slobodan Milosevic regime that have either been tried or are still being processed must not be forgotten, says Vuk Draskovic. The Serbian Renewal Movement (SPO) leader said that this would not be an obstacle to a new government unless that government began offering amnesty to the perpetrators. "No amnesty to Milosevic henchmen" “And if there really is any leniency shown to any crime whatsoever, then we too, the victims of the regime in the Nineties, will wonder why. And we’ll know what he have to do,” he told B92. Asked whether he would take part in such a government, Draskovic replied “Who knows?.. I have an agreement with the Democratic Party. They have been my partner since 1990, I don’t have any agreement with the Socialists.” Meanwhile, War Crimes Prosecution spokesman Bruno Vekaric has said that the acquittal of Marko Milosevic on charges of inflicting grievous bodily harm on three Otpor members was not the fruit of a political deal. “There’s no question of this verdict being some kind of political deal,“ insisted Vekaric. The spokesman added that this was a first instance verdict, and that it was open to appeal. He said that as a “citizen, however, it saddens me that someone who was so dangerous and special in the state has been acquitted, particularly when I recall how badly those poor people were beaten.“ Vuk Draskovic (FoNet, archive)
