Workers go on strike at Fiat Serbia factory
According to Markovic, the strikers are staging a work stoppage while remaining in their workplaces. Two one-hour warning strikes were held on Friday and Monday, when they demanded an increase in the base wage from RSD 38,000 to 45,000 (approximately EUR 315/370), a reorganization of production or hiring of new workers to reduce the load on workers who are now performing several operations or, in addition to their own, doing the work of others who are on sick or maternity leave.
Another demand is reimbursement of additional costs incurred for commuting outside of normal working hours when there is no public transport - i.e., earlier than 5 am, and later than 10 pm.
The strikers also want bonuses to be increased, and paid for 2017 and 2018.
The trade union earlier announced that the strike would last until the demands have been met, or an agreement reached with the FCA management.
