A fire on Mt. Suvobor in central Serbia has been put under control and around 600 people are trying to put it out.

Even though the evacuation of local residents was planned, it was not carried out as the fire started to subside. Serbian police (MUP) Emergency Situations Sector Chief Predrag Maric told Tanjug that one more Russian Beriev Be-200 plane would arrive to Mt. Suvobor soon and help extinguish the fire. He explained that local residents, Gendarmerie and police officers and firefighters from across Serbia helped fight the fire last night. Maric said on Sunday morning that the fire would be localized in three to four hours. Three persons were injured in the fire on Mt. Suvobor on Saturday.
