Bojan Kostres criticized the government’s lack of interest in outlawing the work of extremist organizations. The Vojvodina assembly speaker said that two years after the assembly had called on the government to prohibit the work of extremist groups in Serbia, Belgrade had yet to react. Government slow to react to extremism The assembly submitted the request to the government after several members of the Neo-Nazi group Nacionalni Stroj disrupted an anti-Fascist rally on November 9, 2005. “Nothing has been done to have these extremist groups outlawed and in that way, prohibit them from working. Unfortunately, this is not the first time the government has remained deaf and mute to the demands of parliament and the Vojvodina Executive Council,” Kostres told Novi Sad Radio 021. He said that extremist groups were not being taken seriously enough by the administration and that not enough attention was being paid to the problem. On December 20, 2005, the Vojvodina Parliament adopted a proposal demanding an immediate government ban on the work of all Neo-Nazi, racist and Clerofascist groups and organizations in Serbia. Several days ago, Radio 021 announced that Neo-Nazi groups were planning to hold a march on October 7 in the center of Novi Sad. The government has yet to react to the announcement.
