According to media reports, the parents decided to leave the children in the car, "but their play turned into tragedy when the three-year-old run over his one-year-old cousin that was located in front of the car."

The seriously injured baby was taken to the hospital and later died there.

The police are investigating the responsibility of the parents, who said they were nearby and "kept an eye on the children all the time."

"The post mortem has not yet been done. The details of the case will be known soon. The most important thing right now is to protect the child," said Novo Mesto police spokeswoman Aleka Drenik, the website 24sata.hr has reported.
