Serbia has lodged a protest to Croatia over an incident in the town of Rijeka, that targeted the Serbian consulate there.

BELGRADE Serbia has lodged a protest to Croatia over an incident in the town of Rijeka, that targeted the Serbian consulate there. The protest note was delivered by Serbian Ambassador to Croatia Stanimir Vukicevic to Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs of Croatia Zeljko Kupresak. The ministry also said that Croatia was expected "to take all necessary measures to fulfill the commitments it took upon itself in compliance with the Vienna Convention on Consular Relations." The ministry recalled that the Consulate General of Serbia in Rijeka "has been exposed to similar attacks several times, the last time in April this year, when a Molotov cocktail was thrown at the building." A bilingual sign was damaged and windows on the building housing the consulate smashed in the night between November 8 and 9, the Serbian Foreign Ministry said in a release on Sunday.

Kuprešak expressed his regret over the incident and the belief that the attack on Serbia's mission will be shed light on very soon, according to the Serbian MFA.

The ministry also said that Croatia was expected "to take all necessary measures to fulfill the commitments it took upon itself in compliance with the Vienna Convention on Consular Relations."

The ministry recalled that the Consulate General of Serbia in Rijeka "has been exposed to similar attacks several times, the last time in April this year, when a Molotov cocktail was thrown at the building."
