"We were very shaken by the news about the earthquake that struck China, wherein a great number of people were killed. On behalf of the government of the Republic of Serbia and on my personal behalf, I want to extend expressions of deepest sympathy to the families and friends of the fallen," Brnabic wrote, according to the government's website, and added:

"Although it is difficult to comfort those who lost their loved ones in this accident, I am convinced that you and your government will support them, and Serbia, as your great friend, will be at your disposal."

According to media reports on Wednesday, the magnitude 7 earthquake has killed at least 19 people and injured 247.
