Controversy over new OSCE Kosovo chief

Austrian diplomat Werner Almhofer was on Thursday officially appointed the new head of the OSCE Mission in Kosovo. This, Tanjug reports, "was done without consulting all member states of the organization and has caused disapproval from the representatives of Serbia at the OSCE". Controversy over new OSCE Kosovo chief Almhofer will replace Tim Guldimann of Switzerland at this post, it was announced by the Finnish Chairmanship at the session of the OSCE Permanent Council in Vienna. The OSCE Chairman-in-Office, Finnish Foreign Minister Alexander Stubb, appointed Almhofer without consulting numerous member states of the OSCE, the news agency learned from the organization's diplomatic circles. "Stubb ignored an objection sent in writing by Foreign Minister Vuk Jeremic," the report added. Tanjug also learned that official Belgrade would "take adequate measures against the decision and would continue to lobby against it".
