Britain's Prince Charles visited Bosnia

Prince Charles attended a British military parade on the occasion of St. David's Day, named for the Welsh patron saint.

His visit comes as London announced Thursday the withdrawal of all its 600 troops from Bosnia.

It followed the decision of the European Union on Wednesday to cut its peacekeeping contingent from 6,500 to around 2,500 as security improves in the Balkan nation.

The 6,500-strong EUFOR took over from a NATO peacekeeping mission in 2004 and is charged with carrying out military tasks set out in the US-brokered Dayton accords that ended Bosnia's 1992-1995 war.

"I think it is now a safe and secure environment, police and everybody else can take over the role," Sergeant Antony King told AFP.
