Fewer foreigners in BSE

The BSE representatives say it is precisely the rising number of professional and small domestic investors that contributed to the declining foreign investment figures in the stock market, adding that foreigners showed interest in buying shares, rather than bonds.

In the first trimester of 2007, foreign investors participated with 44 percent, 10.6 percent less compared to 2006. Trading in shares went to 55 from 30 percent on daily levels.

With the increased trading volume in March, that share gradually decreased to reach levels closer to 40 percent. At the same time, foreign investors participated in the bonds trade with ten percent, 1.14 percent less than last year.
