RTB Bor contract becomes available

Economy minister Predrag Bubalo said the union activists will be able to study the contract in both its Serbian and English language versions, in order to avoid speculation that the privatization process of the Mining and Smelting Basin (RTB) Bor obscured facts and manipulated workers.

“There is no controversy in making the contract public. The contract becomes legally binding with the payment of the full sum agreed in the bidding. I see no reason for anyone to be afraid of advance payments or something they are ignorance about, although I know ignorance is often scary,” Bubalo said.

The sale of the faltering Serbian mining complex to Romanian Cuprom has been marred by allegations of foul play by the second-placed bidder in the tender procedure. East Point owner Zoran Drakulić accused the government of having agreed to sell RTB Bor for a price lower than that offered in the tender.
