Minister of Justice Snezana Malovic said Saturday that the Serbian judiciary will be able to confiscate the property and money in foreign countries. This, the minister explained, will take place if it is proved that these assets were acquired through criminal activity. "Illegal assets to be seized abroad too" She told Tanjug news agency that there are legal possibilities to reach the criminals’ property that had been transferred abroad, under other peoples’ names and bank accounts. International assistance can be obtained in this regard, she said, noting that other European countries are already confiscating in third countries the property and money acquired through criminal actions. She cited the example of the Palermo District Prosecution which has confiscated property worth EUR 2.5mn since the beginning of last year, mostly abroad.
