The FBI has begun investigating three persons suspected of sending threatening letters to Serbian War Crimes Prosecutor Vladimir Vukcevic. This U.S. agency recently told the prosecution that there are several people suspected of threatening Vukcevic. FBI probes threats against Serbian prosecutor The prosecution in Belgrade has received 48 threats, mostly letters, but there were some physical attacks as well, such as when an unknown perpetrator slashed Vukcevic's car tires. Prosecution spokesman Bruno Vekaric said that “some 20 letters arrived from an area around Chicago with horrible threats directed at Vukcevic, stating that he would be killed, receive a bullet to the head, telling him that he is a traitor for doing his job in this way." The letters and messages have arrived from other American cities as well, and usually have phantom signatures such as “a group of Serbs” or the “organization for the protection of Serbs.”
