The Iranian Navy will conduct military exercises in the coming days in the Sea of Oman and the Indian Ocean, that is, near the Strait of Hormuz, military sources confirmed to Al Jazeera, adding that these are “regular annual maneuvers” involving not only Iran’s army and the naval forces of the Revolutionary Guard, but also China and Russia.Ahead of the start of the drills, Iran issued a notice to air traffic two days ago due to planned live-fire activities in the airspace over the Strait of Hormuz. It was added that the airspace above the specified area, from ground level up to an altitude of 25,000 feet, will be restricted during the exercises and considered hazardous for air traffic. These military activities are taking place amid heightened tensions, with growing threats from the United States of possible military strikes on Iran and the buildup of U.S. military equipment in the region, which Tehran has warned about and announced it would respond to.
