Fico, who is recovering after being shot four times at point-blank range in mid-May, was speaking at an evening ceremony marking Saints Cyril and Methodius Day, a national holiday in Slovakia, Reuters reported.

The assassination of Fico was carried out on May 15, and the assailant Juraj Cintula (71) later, during interrogation, said that the motive was disagreement with the Prime Minister's policy, and that he did not want to kill him, but only to "damage his health".
