Drama in Greece: Man attacks tourists with knife at famous tourist destination PHOTO/VIDEO

The incident occurred at around 8:03 a.m., following reports that a man was threatening passersby with a knife near the Acropolis Museum and ticket offices, Kathimerini reported.

According to initial information, the attacker targeted two tourists from the United States without any apparent reason.

The woman suffered an injury to her thigh, while the man who tried to protect her sustained a wrist injury.

The injured tourists received medical assistance at the scene and were then taken to the "Red Cross" Hospital.

Their condition is stable.

The suspect was subdued and arrested by officers from the Athens Police Directorate. He is a 60-year-old Greek man who had previously been arrested for insulting behavior and possession of a knife, and had been referred twice for treatment in psychiatric facilities.

It was also reported that an order for his compulsory admission issued in 2022 was never carried out because police were unable to locate him.
