An unnamed source from the Royal Air Force told Sky News that the RAF aircraft was subjected to “reckless interference.”

John Healey was returning to the United Kingdom on Thursday after visiting British troops in Estonia when the electronic attack occurred. The news was first reported by The Times.

According to the report, smartphones and laptops were unable to connect to the internet, while the pilots had to use an alternative navigation system because the aircraft’s GPS was disabled during the three-hour flight.

 

“This was reckless Russian interference, but the Royal Air Force is well prepared to deal with such activities,” an unnamed RAF source said.

It is not yet known whether John Healey was intentionally targeted, but the flight path of the Dassault Falcon 900LX was visible on flight-tracking websites, British media reported.

GPS interference, which affects systems used daily for navigation, has become a common feature of modern warfare, and such incidents are most often linked to Russia.

In September 2025, an aircraft carrying Ursula von der Leyen was also affected by GPS jamming, although the European Union later stated that the plane landed safely at its final destination.
