Europe facing a temperature shock: After Arctic cold, a heatwave from Africa is coming
After a prolonged period of cold weather that affected much of Europe, a dramatic temperature shift is expected in the coming days, The Guardian reports.
Warm air from the south is moving toward the western and central parts of the continent, so temperatures in France and England could rise by up to 15 degrees.
During the past week, a combination of a strong anticyclone over the North Atlantic and a cyclone over southern Scandinavia pulled Arctic air southward, causing temperatures to drop 10 to 15 degrees below average for this time of year and remain so for more than a week.
