In the chemical accident that occurred today at an industrial facility in Nuremberg, 30 people were injured, two of whom are in critical condition, German emergency services announced.

According to the Bavarian Red Cross, one person was resuscitated at the scene after a leak of a still unidentified chemical at a factory on Turn-und-Taxis Street in the Schafhof district, Bild reports.

The incident occurred around 11:30 a.m., after which large teams of firefighters, emergency medical services, and police were dispatched to the site.

According to the fire department, around 100 rescue personnel took part in the operation.

The authorities stated that 20 people sustained minor injuries, eight suffered moderate injuries, while two people were seriously injured and remain in critical condition.

A total of 17 injured individuals were transported to hospitals for further treatment, while around 90 people received medical assistance at the scene. The cause of the accident and the type of chemical that leaked are still unknown.

Firefighters stated that the company where the accident occurred regularly uses chemical substances in its operations.

The facility was evacuated as a precaution, and according to emergency services, there was no danger to the public because the released substances remained contained inside the building.
