The operation of the Prime Minister of Slovakia Robert Fico lasted about 3 hours and 40 minutes, announced the Slovak TV Chanell TAZ, referring to sources, reports Novosti.

Fico was put into an induced coma, where he will be for the next 24 hours. According to this television, his condition is critical, he lost a lot of blood. According to the publication, the most important arteries of the Slovak Prime Minister were not damaged.

Slovak Deputy Prime Minister Tomáš Taraba said tonight that he believes that Prime Minister Robert Fico is out of danger and that he will survive the assassination attempt that occurred earlier today.

“Fortunately as far as I know the operation went well – and I guess in the end he will survive. He is not in a life-threatening situation at this moment'', Taraba told the BBC.
